Being a tourist in London

It was Francis’ birthday yesterday so we spent the weekend in London being proper tourists. I’ve lived in the UK pretty much all my life and I’ve really never seen London properly. It’s such a beautiful city, even on a rainy day.

I used to hate being a typical ‘tourist’ but I have embraced the title more recently. When I go to new places I really feel a need to completely immerse myself in it. I find it frustrating to just see the sites. I want to wonder around and discover things that most people don’t see. I want to feel what it feels like to really be present here. One of my favourite parts of the weekend was getting on our Boris Bikes (or Santander Cycles?) at 8am and becoming part of the London Monday morning commute with hundreds of other cyclists in the pouring rain. It was so fun for us but I bet they don’t agree…

Thanks for having us London it’s been awesome ✌🏻
